Current and Upcoming Events

June 2013: Portrait of Barney Frank commissioned by the U.S. House of Representatives will be unveiled in the  House Financial Services and Banking Committee hearing room.

June 2013: Portrait of Harold Varmus commissioned by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center will be unveiled in New York City.

June 2013: Commencing work on a portrait of Ted Turner commissioned by the United Nations Foundation.

May 2013: Publication of Contemporary Cape Cod Artists: Images of Land and Sea by Deborah Forman, Schiffer Press. The volume includes a section featuring my landscape paintings of Cape Cod.

January 2013: Portrait studies of Maxine Singer and Janet Rowley were acquired by the National Portrait Gallery for their permanent collection. 

Recent Events

June 16 - July 22, 2012: "Jon Friedman, Notables and Friends, Contemporary Portraits": a survey of oil studies on prepared paper for public commissions and private portraits, Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cotuit, Massachusetts

November 10, 2011: Unveiling of Lee Anderson's portrait and dedication of the Lee Anderson Veteran's Center at the US Chamber of Commerce Headquarters in Washington, DC.

May 21st 2011: Unveiling of  Jehuda Reinharz portrait commissioned by Brandeis University.

May 17th 2011: Installation of Bill and Melinda Gates portrait commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery as part of the museum's "Recent Acquisitions" exhibition. The painting will be on permanent display at the Museum.

November-December 2010: a one-person exhibition of landscape paintings and portrait studies at the Alan Klotz Gallery in Chelsea, New York City.

The December 2010 issue of The Pastel Journal carries a richly illustrated feature article on my early pastel work.
